About

Matt  Dyeris Principal Program Officer at QFES working across the areas of strategy, planning, research and climate change.  He is a Behavioural Scientist with more than twenty years’ experience in disaster management in Queensland, making significant contributions to research and policy development, and has guided disaster response through events that impacted regional Queensland communities, receiving the National Emergency Medal in recognition of his service and commitment to community safety.  Matt led the development of the QFES Climate Action Plan and application of the transformative scenarios to test and rework strategy as QFES transitions to the new Queensland Fire Department. Matt grew up on Cape York and remembers fondly the heat, humidity, sound and smell of an impending monsoon: his passion today includes understanding how communities can understand their local environment and hazards, and to be prepared and resilient in a climate-challenged world.  He remains a student of the intricacies of disaster resilience.
