Celebrating First Nations research: NAIDOC Week webinar

Natural hazards resilience and disaster risk reduction depend upon the respectful recognition that First Nations peoples have been protecting the landscapes and communities that we all live, work, learn and conduct research on for tens of thousands of years.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to celebrate First Nations natural hazards research and the crucial role that First Nations Elders, knowledges and practices play in keeping communities and landscapes safe from, and resilient to, natural hazards.

In this all-First Nations webinar, you will hear directly from researchers and experts in this sector, speaking about their work, the benefits of meaningful inclusion of First Nations peoples and the way that ongoing First Nations research builds on the teachings of Elders.

Our staff work from Wurundjeri, Yuggera, Turrbal, Burramattagal and Dharawal Countries. We thank and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of these lands and all the lands where we work, live and walk, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise that these lands and waters have always been places of teaching, research and learning, and that sovereignty has not been ceded.
