EOI open for research to enhance decision making

Expressions of Interest are now open for a new project to enhance decision making in the emergency management sector.

While much is known about decision making in the Australian and New Zealand emergency management contexts, there are several knowledge areas that need to be updated and translated into training and learning products, including how to develop and apply decision-making skills properly.

Part of Natural Hazards Research Australia's core program, the new Decision making in emergency management project will run for 1.5 years and will develop new or enhanced training and learning products that increase decision-making skills for the sector.

In doing this, the project will address three major areas where further research is needed:

  1. Updating and reinforcing knowledge about key decision-making skills and how to develop and apply them.
  2. Building greater understanding of decision-making environments and consequences.
  3. Increasing opportunities to exercise and practice decision-making skills.

Expressions of Interest are open until 11:59pm AEDT on 30 November 2022. EOIs must be prepared using the Centre's EOI submission form. Find out more about this EOI, including the submission form and any frequently asked questions, on the Decision making in emergency management project page.
