Cross-cultural relationships in natural resource management: understanding the nature and experiences of partnership and collaboration

Project type

Postgraduate research

Project status

In progress

The project is examining the experiences of Traditional Owners who are in partnership arrangements with agencies and how collaborations are operationalised.

Project details

There is little research that looks at cross-cultural partnerships and collaborations within natural resource and the underpinning concepts of mutuality, cooperation, and inclusiveness. As partnership and collaboration between Traditional Owners, agencies and conservation organisations increase, further research is required on cross-cultural relations. This research will provide time and space consideration of:

  • how cultural land management practice is experienced
  • barriers and challenges to engaging in cultural land management practices
  • what is required to better support Traditional Owners in cultural land management
  • culture and cultural safety.
