Fostering international collaborations and improving science communication for disaster recovery

Research theme

Resilient communities

Project type

ECR Fellowship research

Project status

In progress

This fellowship will strengthen connections with international research partners and develop new collaborations relating to disaster recovery research, including opportunities to contribute to new research projects, translate international research findings to the Australian context and improve knowledge translation approaches and outputs.

Project details

As disasters become increasingly frequent and severe, more communities will experience the short and long term impacts of these events and grapple with the recovery process. This is happening globally and we have opportunities to learn from and collaborate with colleagues from around the world. Developing strong research partnerships outside Australia will help up make sure that emerging findings from research about what is most helpful after disasters will get to communities, policy makers and frontline workers.

The purpose of this fellowship is to meet with potential research collaborators to identify points of common interest and projects that can a) be translated to the Australian context, b) lead to collaboration opportunities and c) highlight high quality knowledge translation efforts.
