About
Professor Karine Dupre is a registered architect and urban planner, currently the Associate Dean for Research and Creative Scholarship at Virginia Tech College of Architecture, Arts and Design. As a researcher, Prof Dupre focuses on the design processes that can make cities and communities more resilient and sustainable. Her work is built upon and emphasises collaboration and co-creativity with economic and social impact.
She has worked with the cities of Townsville and Ipswich (both in Queensland) to identify and provide solutions regarding their urban heat islands. Virtual reality was employed to help communities to understand the impact of changes.
