About
Roger Jones is a Professorial Research Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Industries and Liveable Cities at Victoria University, Melbourne. He is part of a small team applying a transdisciplinary approach to assessing systemic risk and socioeconomic transformations, contributing a wide range of scientific and economic methods. Much of this work has focused on different aspects of climate change and natural hazards, and includes workforce change, community resilience, and the role of governance and institutions. He is also working to better understand the complex thermodynamic response of climate to increasing greenhouse gases, behind the recent rapid shifts in temperature, rainfall, atmospheric moisture and fire danger.
Roger is a co-convenor of VU’s Risk, Disaster and Resilience Network. He has been a Coordinating Lead Author in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fourth and fifth assessment reports, and technical adviser to programs in Australia and internationally.
