Bex is an Earth Observation Scientist working with Australia’s free and open satellite data at Geoscience Australia in the Digital Earth Australia program as the Assistant Director for Science Innovation and Engagement. She combines massive satellite datasets to provide insights into Australian environmental features and enables innovation in remote sensing.

Bex’s areas of knowledge include optical remote sensing of water and wetlands, time series analysis, open source earth observation data and methods, big data, Python programming, general satellite knowledge, geographical information systems, high performance computing, and science communication.

She holds degrees in marine science (physical oceanography) and in mechanical engineering (naval architecture), and is passionate about making good earth observation science useful every day in Australia.
